Treatment of scars
Many people think that plastic surgery interventions are without any scars or plastic surgeons are able to make them disappear. Unfortunately, this is not quite true, because wonders do not exist. In plastic surgery, we produce “invisible” scars with appropriate techniques, with good experience and knowledge concerning healing process and with hiding incisions.Scars are reactions of the skin to interventions coming from outside.
They can result from injuries or operations. Characteristically, they are red in the beginning, when they are better visible, then they turn to pink and finally white. This ripening process sometimes can last for one year.
Optimally, in this final state, scars are thin and almost imperceptible. In cases of any disturbances (infection, wrong scar direction, and inclination) occur, they can change, unfortunately. They grow wider, emerge, keep their intense colour and what is more, they can become painful.
In these cases local treatment can be applied (steroid injections, silicone sheets, compression therapy), or operative solution can also be chosen.
In all cases, the primary method or combination of methods to be chosen are decided after careful examination and according to the requirements of the individual/scar.
After the well chosen way of correction, optimal or almost optimal healing can be achieved.
The most widely known pathological scar is keloid, which can be formed on the basis of individual inclination. Characteristically, it highly protrudes, sometimes it can be painful and its colour is abnormal. Unfortunately, its treatment has not been solved even today.
