The MRI is the acronym of Magnetic Resonance Imaging This is one of the most recent diagnostic devices.
This is a more secure and reliable way of examination in comparison with the X-ray and CT imaging, because these do not burden our organism with any x-rays instead, imaging uses magnetic field and radio waves. Therefore, the device works without emitting any harmful rays, this is why there is no limitation in the number of images that can be made.
Examinations take place in the presence of a radiologist and specialized assistants. The duration of the examination depends on the body field to be examined; the patient is provided with the images recorded on a CD immediately. Analysis of the images is made by our radiologist and our clinic can send it to you by e-mail.Why is the open MRI device of our clinic so special?
We have one of the most recent open type MRI devices; its installation was the first one in Europe.
Because the device is open, patients do not feel any claustrophobic anxieties.
During the examination, our patient is lying in a comfortably big space, without any pain.
It is definitely important with claustrophobic patients, because with this device, it becomes possible also for them to perform the examination.
Parents can hold their children’s hand, therefore the children can lie calmly during the examination. Patients with greater weight can find enough room within this device in comparison with the closed one.
The examination is completely painless and provides us with highly reliable results. At our clinic, examinations with contrast material are also available; this further increase accuracy of the images. What kinds of examinations can be performed with the open MRI device?
Practically, all the body fields can be examined with MRI.
The most precise pictures can be made with the native examination of the skull, with angio blood vessels of the skull), full spine, limbs or joint (like the shoulder, the arm, the elbow, the wrist, the hand, the knee, the ankle, the true pelvis and the hip) imaging.
Our most frequent examination is the imaging of the spine, because these pictures can perfectly show the structure, state, condition and the possible deviations, injuries of the vertebras with the cartilages between them.
In comparison with the X-ray and ultrasound examinations, the great advantage of the MRI is that it can show the deviations much earlier. Let us take the necrotization of the femoral head. By the time the necrotizaton is demonstrated by other means, the process will be irreversible and it can be solved only with operation.
The examination is available by prescription or it can be ordered privately.
